OH YEAH I HAVE A BLOG AND A STORE

So its been a while and it has been a busy almost a year since my last post. I got through DCon then I had a couple of shows and then WonderCon. I bring this up because I am just now posting up some of what I had left from WonderCon in my now reopened store vanessaramirez.storenvy.com. I did mention I have been busy right?

So on this day, August 29th 2015, at 2pm I am reopening my store and offering my strange creations.

Coming up I am participating in a new Group show at Leanna Lins Wonderland Curated by Hana of Supahcute and I'm really excited about my new pieces. I have an illustrated piece and a sculpt in progress.

And after that I have a Halloween themed group show. More info on that later and then of course DCon in November. Going to be a grueling end of the year. Lets hope I make some fun stuff. and don't kill my baby hands or get dead.

I"M NOT DEAD... AND PUMPKINS!!

I have not updated this blog in forever. I have done a lot of stuff since my last update. I know. I'm the worst. I have been working hard and making new monsters and other really fun stuff so at least I have been productive. Moving on.

So it is that time again and I decided to do all new pumpkins for this Halloween/Fall season. They are set to release on October 18th @ 3pm in my store vanessaramirez.storenvy.com. They are already loaded up so you can peruse at your leisure.

I will have another update very soon as DesignerCon is around the corner again go to supahcute.com/the-stoop/ and you can see what I'm up to along with some friends.

Also if there is anything else in my store you have been eyeballing I will be clearing it out and whatever I don't take to DesignerCon will most likely be retired. Back to sculpting for this broad.

Had a lot of fun making the first run of monster magnets and pins. Decided to make a different color selection of the previous two and added two new sculpts. Also decided to stick to magnets this go around. Only made four of each. These will be available Friday 7/26 AT 1PM PDT in my store. www.vanessaramirez.storenvy.com

New Month, New Stuff

Already March and things are progressing, and yet not. I have not worked on my series yet. My testing phase is becoming too fun apparently. Things got really busy with a client, my classes, and of course work so not much happened with some of the tests. However, I am hoping to finish working on the new "hair" dunny I was working on, start my series and continue casting resin.

What? Did I just say casting resin. Why, yes. Yes I did. I am currently involved in a Hand Made Toy Swap on Show Me Your Vinyl. If you are asking me what that is then we need to talk. Have a seat, make a cocktail, or a stiff cup of coffee. Show me Your Vinyl is a Facebook, Twitter, Rotocasted hybrid thing-a-ma-bob. It is a site where toy people go to chit chat, show off toy collections, customs and the like. It is relatively new and still growing. So I joined this group that was asking us toy customizers to see if they wanted to make a completely original toy out of any media and participate in a toy swap. I decided to do it and here we are. I made a figure. I made a mold. I cast Resin. I also splashed it in my face, which I do not recommend. Here are some progress pics.

Sculpey Figure

Here is a test pull. Kinda rough. Thinking of redoing the mold.

Next blog I will show the first attempts gone wrong. At one point I only poured the head. This is not the easiest thing, don't judge me. Of course I decided to do a Yeti. A Yeti Mini. He stands 2.5" tall approximately. All kinds of cute. So I am thinking of making the Swap one with a super custom paint job, then making a few more with standard paint jobs and selling them in my store. I want the recipient of my swap version to have a unique piece but I can't make just one. HE IS REALLY CUTE. That might just be me that thinks that but it's like being a parent. You love your ugly baby.
